Are you interested in volunteering with youth and horses? Whispering Equine is always looking for new volunteers to help out with our youth Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) programs. These may include our School EFL Programs, Youth Kids Camps and Youth Personal Growth Workshops. At times, there are also volunteer needs with a couple of our adult workshops and senior's group horse visits throughout the year.
Ideally a volunteer would have a genuine interest in the well being of kids and horses, previous experience with both in some fashion and availability during the weekdays...as that is when most of our programs are run. As mentioned above, we do need volunteer help on the weekends for some adult workshops, but the main need is in our youth programs and senior's visits during week day mornings/early afternoons.
A volunteer training session will be required as well, to formally introduce our various programs, the theory behind them, how we handle and interact with our horses during the programs and the volunteer responsibilites.
If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, please send Carrie an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your interest and any questions you may have. Thank you!
Currently, a big population that Whispering Equine serves and sees the biggest impact with, are youth at risk and women in need. Often these individuals can not afford to attend these life enhancing programs and experiences on their own, so we are reaching out for donations or sponsorship to help be able to continue to offer these experiences to these populations, whether they are coming privately or have been referred through a school or community youth program.
Through our charitable arm, the Inspiring Equine Society, individuals may donate to sponsor individuals for programs, private sessions, camps and workshops. We have created various options for people to donate to help support these individuals in need.
If you would be interested providing a donation or sponsorship, there are a few ways to help the Inspiring Equine Society support the children:
- sponsor a school group for a 6 week program
- sponsor an individual for a workshop or camp
- sponsor an individual for a private program or experience
- a general donation (where IES can allocate the funds to greatest need of support)
- a donation towards the purchase of a specific piece of equipment used in programs
We have been fortunate to be selected as one of the the participating charities in the 2020 Birdies For Kids program, presented by AltaLink!
